The Intelligence and Security Service carries out counterintelligence activities to uncover and counteract foreign intelligence-subversive aspirationsaffecting the national security. Monitoring the risks derived from activities of foreign intelligence serviceswithin national territory constitutes a priority of institutional concern.


Since counterintelligence is a discrete activity, most often its achievements shall remain secret.


We must not forget that the main target of espionage activities is the human being who by statute and professional duties has access to information of interest for a foreign entity, who may influence decision-making or become a channel for delivering some messages in detriment of national interests.
